Cemetery Surveyor is a free and open sourced application facilitating the collection of cemetery data. Two versions of the application exist (Android App and Web Application).

The data gathering tools are part of a survey workflow consisting of:

– the creation of an ontology
– the designing of a survey consisting of categories and attributes defined in a JSON template
– the designating of cemetery, cemetery sections and graves in a GIS with unique identifiers
– the actual surveying of the cemetery using the application
– the exporting of gathered data back into a GIS or statistical analysis program.

The two applications are :

– The Cemetery Surveyor Application (CSA) (2016 – 2024)

– The Web Cemetery Surveyor (WCS) (2017 – )

While CSA is no longer easily installable, the source code, instructions, and documentation are still helpful in regards to the WCS. The CSA was developed in 2016 for Android devices and was freely available until early 2024.

All necessary resources to install WCS are still available, again note that some helpful resources are located on the CSA resources page. Reach out if you require assistance in deploying WCS.
